How shall a poem about true love start?
Well, I’ll just say “I have dipped the tip of my pen in the inkwell of my heart.”
My heart longs to speak to all and especially the youth.
As long as eternity is, God’s word is always truth.
“What is true love?” is the question.
Is true love a feeling or what?
And who amongst people is wise enough to teach this lesson?
And if one finds love, how does one know if truth has shown up?
True love certainly cannot be a feeling.
For feelings can simply come and go.
And I can attest to “being in love” being a feeling.
But, there is fruit that true love shows.
True love is faithful, patient and kind.
True love is gentle, giving and caring.
No, true love is not simply a figment of the mind.
But, it is also demonstrated by the act of sharing.
True love is a choice, a decision made and acted upon.
Love is shown by the way one walks and talks.
The word “love” is heard by many, but by a few it is known and shown.
Remember, a feeling can be here one moment and the next it can be gone.
Now, a choice can allow and lead to feelings.
But, feelings don’t make a true decision.
This is why many people go through needed emotional healings,
Because someone felt something, but they never made a decision.
Wisely guard your heart with all you can,
And always trusting in the Lord is the best plan.
To know what love is one must seek the creator. (1 John 4:7-11)
He is Love, and without Him love wouldn’t be.
Always remember a choice is greater and true love is as everlasting as a tree.
Love God first, for He first loved us. (1 John 4:19-21)
Love yourself, for He believes you are worth loving.
Love others as yourself, for God loves all of us. (Matthew 22:36-40, John 13:34)
Yes, there is, an ideal, true love that can be seen,
Which goes beyond our capability to imagine and dream.
Who would’ve thought God would send His only begotten Son,
To die for all of our sin that has and will ever be done.
Jesus, I am sure, didn’t “feel” like dying. (See Matthew 26:37-42)
But He chose to do His Father’s will and go to the cross, that He might end our crying.
God’s love for us was clearly shown by Jesus dying. (See John 3:16)
Love resisting temptation is self control.
To decide to love is beautiful.
True love is unconditional.
God is Love, and love is of God. (1 John 4:11-18)
And, this is how I shall end,
“Greater love has no one than this,
Than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” {John 15:13}
Glory to God,
